We need to be open and honest about our needs and our failings. Willing to admit our weaknesses and vulnerabilities. Willing to open our lives to God and to one another and to face our sins instead of covering them up and denying them. Which brings us to, of course, repentance - the crucial part of our cleansing, refreshing and empowerment. God doesn't want us to continue to make the same mistakes over and over again. He calls us to confess our failures, ask for forgiveness for our sins, healing for our hurts and live a better life from this point forward.
God calls us to try again even when we fail. More important, God calls us to take our focus off of our failures and concentrate on following Him. God is interested more on our reliance on Him than our failures in life. He is more concerned with our growth in Him rather than the "good deeds" we do. He wants us to rely on Him and go with the flow of His living water rather than trying to live life on our own. If we stop to listen to God in our failures, that is when He does His best work. But His living water is only powerful to someone when they allow it to flow. God will not drowned you in it, you must be willing to accept it.
Once you open yourself up to the flow of the living water, you won't shut up about it! Trust me, I know! Since receiving my flow of the living water I thirst more and more for it. My thirst is never quenched in the sense of I want more of His truth! Is His water satisfying? Of course! But it is so refreshing that you just can't get enough of it! Reach out to others instead of condemning them and share with them Jesus' good gifts of cleansing, refreshment and power!
