Jesus answered them, “Truly, truly, I say to you, everyone who commits sin is the slave of sin. The slave does not remain in the house forever; the son does remain forever. So if the Son makes you free, you will be free indeed.
As most of us have a past, before we became believers, some of us tend to live in the captivity of our past. Jesus does not call for us to live in our past but to live in the freedom He so freely offers us. But just as our freedom in America cost a hefty price, the price Jesus paid on the cross for us to live in freedom was the ultimate price, too.
The most important thing we need realize before we can be set free, is to recognize the bondage of sin we are actually in. Some people do not want to be freed, they are afraid of change. When you begin to live for God, your old habits must change. You are no longer the person you use to be. The enemy is a liar and he is deceitful. He paralyzes us into thinking we will never escape the darkness we live in and bondage of sin we suffer from. The devil is the one who throws our past up into our face and deceives us into thinking we will never be free from our past mistakes. But Jesus came to set us free from those lies and the reminders of our past mistakes. The blood He shed on calvary for us is what makes us FREE INDEED!
