God wants your past unstuck and available to be used under His anointing and for your destiny. God wants to use our past not to shame or condemn us but to break the stronghold the enemy has on our testimony and use our story for His glory. If we are not willing to look back and let God rewrite our memories, we will never fully arrive at our destiny and never see what God CAN do with our heartbreaks and mistakes. I read in a book recently that stated when we see ourselves as God sees us, we will believe about ourselves what God believes about us. When we realize that God is looking at us as someone He loves, we don't have to feel like we need to hide from Him.
We have to make a choice to trust God with our past - our mistakes, deepest regrets and shameful choices. Once we do that, the real healing will begin. However, many of us don't want to do that. Many times I didn't want to go there, that meant I owned up to my mistakes and failures and that just hurt way too bad. My wounds were too dark to revisit, too shameful to fess up to. Yes, it is difficult, and even the bible says that such a process is work, but it is worth the effort.
What I have learned in the short time in ministry, is that the women who are hiding from their past are the ones who are IN church as opposed to those our are OUT of church. The reason for that is, we have this grand facade of an idea that we are saved and children of God, we are supposed to have no hidden secrets or committed any sins. But that is the problem I am trying to help women with. We are ALL sinners, no one is perfect and we are not insulated from sinning. But when we reveal our secrets to God and start the healing process, that is when the real freedom and peace with your past comes in. Many times we neglect to allow Him to heal our past and use it for our present and future. Revelation 12:11 says "They triumphed over him by the blood of the Lamb and by the word of their testimony; they did not love their lives so much as to shrink from death." In other words, if we can't share our testimony, we will live a life that is stuck in the past. If the word of your testimony is stuck and you can't reveal it due to shame and regret, then you can't share as God calls you to share.
When we invite Jesus into our pain and secrets, it allows God to use all of our past for our freedom and His kingdom. It allows Him to completely heal us and move us into His complete plan for our lives. Since being saved October 2, 2014 God has revealed to me the purpose of my life that He wants for me. If it were not for the trials and tribulations that I had gone through, I would not be here today to testify the life changing miracle He has done for me. Prior to that, I hid everything from Him and everyone else ashamed for what I had done. But once you confess, ask for forgiveness and live for Him, your testimony will be your armor and defense for the enemy who is trying to devour you. So confess today and live in freedom tomorrow!
