Persecution does not last forever. I Peter 5:10, "After you have suffered a little while, our God, who is full of kindness through Christ, will give you His eternal glory. He personally will come and pick you up, and set you firmly in place, and make you stronger than ever."
There is a promise for those persecuted by their family. Matthew 19:29, "And anyone who gives up his home, brothers, sisters, father, mother, wife, children, or property, to follow Me, shall receive a hundred times as much in return, and shall have eternal life."
Trials help us grow spiritually. James 1:2-3, NIV. "Consider it pure joy, my brothers, whenever you face trials of many kinds, because you know that the testing of your faith develops perseverance."
Since being saved and living my life in the ministry, I have lost family members and probably a few friends. I have no communication with some family members, and I am pretty sure my friends I use to hang out with in high school and college probably think that I have gone looney tunes since becoming a "Jesus Freak." However, since revealing my story, writing my book and telling my testimony, I have gained many new friends, fans, a new family in the body of Christ and more peace in my life than I ever have before.
Jesus was hated in the bible and was let down by his own disciples. The week leading up to his crucifixion, the people who were praising Him and asking Him to save them, were the first ones to nail his scarred hands to the cross on the day He died. So if you are being ostracized, called names, talked about, denied, let down or teased, take heart, you are in good company!
People who are not followers of Christ are enemies of God. They do not want their sins revealed and they do not want to change the way they are living. We can witness to them the good news of the gospel and they will either take it, or leave it. If they do not take it, don't worry, you did your part and now you have to let God take it from there. All we can do is pray for the lost in hopes that some day they can experience the freedom and peace that only Christ offers the moment we believe.
I know I have given up a life I knew with people I have loved my whole life to follow Christ. But what I have given up, is nothing compared to what eternity in Heaven with my Savior will be. And I pray multiple times a day for those people to give their hearts to The Lord so we can someday have a relationship on earth where we can rejoice in Him together!
